ABOUT US

Office Consulting offers services from our home base in Tenafly NJ.  Sam Blumenstyk, the founder, has a wide range of IT experience from strategic planning to hands on support.  He has worked in technology full time since 1979, and managed change as technology has moved to the cloud and all the transitions that preceded this most recent innovation.

Over his career, Sam has engaged with a wide range of IT professionals.  These colleagues are brought into projects when appropriate to the solution. 

Sam is also experienced in IT contract negotiations.  While he does not have an active law practice, he is licensed in both NY and NJ.

Below are some of his career accomplishments - your goal is next !

PROMIS data dictionary – Created the first data dictionary for a computer-based information system for the Judiciary branch of the State of NJ (1978-1979).

Hudson County Criminal Justice Systems - Designed, developed and implemented online terminal-based mainframe information systems to manage the scheduling of criminal trial and the inventory of the county jail. Leveraged output from the criminal trial system to create management reports in VisiCalc for Assignment Judge. (1979-1983).

Market data trading system – Implemented a LAN with the first live Telerate feed to a decision support system for interest rate swaps traders at Prudential Capital. (1985)

Manhattan District Attorney’s Office – Implemented the first local area network for this prosecutor’s office, providing electronic mail, shared word processing and similar services, including a gateway to a mainframe case management system. (1986-1989)

Manhattan District Attorney’s Office – Created procedures and a process for first electronic subpoenas and responses. Created process for pen register output requests to be satisfied by NY Telephone, enabling fast and accurate processing by both parties. (1990-1991)

NYC Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT) – Founding member of an internal consulting group, InSource, that provided PC based technology solutions to NYC agencies on a chargeback basis. Agencies supported included the Mayor’s Office, Department of the Aging (where we implemented the first SQL deployment on a LAN) and approximately 10 other independent agencies. (1991-1997)

NYC DoITT – Managed the expansion of an NYC email interconnect system (SoftSwitch)  to include email exchange over the Internet.  Also migrated NYC.GOV from a standalone RS600 computer to a Sun Computer network. (1997-1998)

 

White & Case LLP - Created an International wide area network for this law firm with offices in 40 countries, using a combination of leases lines, frame relay and Internet VPNs. (1998-2001)

Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP -Implemented state of the art technology to support a large NYC based law firm, including redundant links to remote offices. Technologies implemented included early Dell/EMC storage area networks, SAN, VMWare and a private cloud implementation at two data centers. (2002-2022)
